In preparation to receive the Ekjut-ta Yatra, we held five Marmaras - Mara means ‘tree’ and Marmara means the whisperings under the tree, which one day will turn into a hubhub!Marmarais a community based approach that attempts to gather under a tree to create a space for the marginalized, the subaltern, the homeless, the voiceless and the rightless to tell their stories of survival and resistance. Sitting around a tree is a non-hierarchical space, a nurturing space, a nourishing space, a spaceto put our heads together, think out the issues,find creative and imaginative ways to bring violence in its myriad formsinto the political discourse, into the public square.
